Public Vote on Fireworks?

The Sioux City Council is exploring if it can put the decision whether to ban fireworks discharge into the hands of the public.

Following a half-hour discussion during Monday’s City Council meeting in which several residents weighed in on the city’s current rules for fireworks discharge, the council directed city attorney Nicole DuBois to research if — and if so, under what circumstances — such an item could end up on a ballot in November.

Sioux City mayor proposes re-banning fireworks on viral Facebook post 

Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott is so fed up with the bangs of illegal fireworks at night, he brought up making them off-limits again at the next City Council meeting.
