Council to vote on agreements for downtown hotel

SIOUX CITY | It’s been three months since city economic development staff unveiled the name and design for a proposed $20.2 million hotel planned for downtown Sioux City.

Monday, following months of discussion, vote deferrals and opposition from some local groups, the Sioux City Council will decide whether to approve the plans and enter into multiple agreements with the developer.

The council will separately take up development, management and parking agreements that would allow North Liberty, Iowa-based Kinseth Hospitality Co. to build a five-story, 150-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel adjoining the Sioux City Convention Center. Under terms of the three agreements, the company would also manage and provide catering for the city-owned Convention Center.
