2017 pool season sees major facilities changes

SIOUX CITY | With school out for the year, Sioux City’s pool season is now in session. Swimmers of all ages will be cooling off at the city’s aquatics facilities this summer, beating the heat in outdoor pools or getting drenched by dump buckets and geysers at the city’s three public splash pads.

The 2017 pool season will be one of significant changes to Sioux City’s water facilities.

Two places area kids won’t be getting wet are the former Cook and Leeds pools, which were shuttered by the city at the end of last summer as the first step in the city’s plans to emphasize quality over quantity in its aquatics offerings.
